Job summary

Save the Children US is seeking a part-time Program Aide On-Call to support infants, toddlers and preschoolers across classrooms and sites. The role involves classroom assistance, small group activities and helping teachers with daily tasks, family nights and communications with staff.

The position emphasizes safety, confidentiality and compliance with Head Start standards, requiring English fluency and basic first aid/CPR within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be at minimum 18 years of age.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start or child care regulations.
• Within 90 days of employment, obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification.
• Knowledge of basics of working with infants, toddlers and preschool children.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to relate sensitively with children and communicate with staff, parents and families.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Ability to keep information on families confidential.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Apply clear practice and procedure in day-to-day execution of job.
• Organize self and manage time to get things done.
• Keep manager informed of important issues.
• Build effective relationships within the workgroup and with children/families.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Provide classroom assistance and support classroom staff.
• Assist the Teacher in various program aspects when needed.
• May serve as a temporary substitute during absences.
• Perform janitorial and kitchen duties as assigned.
• Comply with hygiene, safety and Head Start regulations.
