Job summary

Save the Children US is seeking a Program Aide on call/Substitutes to support infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with educational and social activities across program sites. The role reports to the Education & Inclusion Manager or Center Director and may involve travel to sites and home visits.

This position involves classroom assistance, janitorial and kitchen duties, and general program support, with expectations to uphold safety, confidentiality, and Head Start standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start or childcare regulations.
• Within 90 days of employment, obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification.
• Knowledge of basics of working with infants, toddlers and preschool children.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to relate to children and communicate with staff, parents and families.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding Head Start/early Head Start families.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational, relational and social experiences for infants to preschoolers.
• Assist classroom staff and teachers as needed.
• Serve as a temporary substitute in the absence of Assistant Teacher or Teacher.
• Perform custodial and kitchen tasks as assigned.
• Uphold Head Start standards and confidentiality.
