The Office Manager coordinates the administrative and communication processes of our congregational life, serving as the initial point-of-contact for visitors, phone calls, and member inquiries. This position focuses on planning, creating, and disseminating a variety of communications to internal and external audiences in order to ensure all stakeholders understand and can participate in what is happening in the life of our church. It also coordinates the operations and use of our buildings by both ACC members and outside guests. This is part-time role anticipated to average 25 hours per week.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and implement communications strategies for disseminating information throughout the congregation and to external audiences
  • Serve as the primary manager of the church’s website, social media accounts, and design/production of internal communication tools (newsletter, bulletins, etc.)
  • Respond to phone calls and building visitors during regular business hours (currently Monday-Thursday, 9 am - 3 pm)
  • Responsible for scheduling building use with ACC members and external groups
  • Coordinate with a contracted cleaning company, IT firm, and other outside vendors/contractors performing work on church premises in support of business operations

Other Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and manage office volunteers as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings as appropriate
  • Attend relevant meetings with church committees and lay leaders
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Competitive wage (at least $20 per hour, potentially higher based on experience)
  • Two weeks of paid time-off per year

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have a college degree or demonstrated experience in communication and administrative capacities in a nonprofit, church, or other professional setting
  • Have basic understanding of/capabilities in graphic design
  • Demonstrate a desire to work in a faith-based organization, appreciating the dynamics (relational leadership, volunteer coordination, consensus in decision-making, attention to values) necessary for success in that environment
  • Share (or be willing to develop) a commitment to the work and witness of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). More information about the denomination is available at www.disciples.org
