Job summary

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking an Office Associate to support the graduate program and manage applicant and student records in a fast-paced environment.

You will coordinate departmental scholarships, assist faculty with rosters and evaluations, and help students navigate program requirements. This is a full-time role based in Lincoln, NE, offering comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus four years of administrative support experience, OR Associate’s degree in business or related field plus two years of administrative support experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams), or similar tools, and the ability to quickly learn and navigate new software and digital tools.
  • Comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and able to communicate effectively with those for whom English is not a first language.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Description of Work

The Department of Food Science and Technology is advancing multi-disciplinary approaches for safe, sustainable and healthy foods through innovative research, teaching and outreach. The Food Innovation Center is located on Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln, NE.
As the Office Associate, you will:

  • Provide administrative support to the graduate program, including responding to inquiries and maintaining applicant and student records.
  • Provide professional communication and assist students with program requirements.
  • Assist faculty members with roster, textbook, and evaluation functions.
  • Coordinate departmental scholarships, fellowships, and assistantship application procedures, deadlines, and files.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus four years of administrative support experience, OR
  • Associate’s degree in business or related field plus two years of administrative support experience. Additional relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
