Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an Outside Counsel Guidelines Attorney to support risk management by managing engagement terms and OCGs. This role collaborates with the Office of General Counsel to review terms, negotiate issues, and finalize engagement materials while ensuring compliance with firm policies.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule and can sit in any US office. The ideal candidate holds a JD, has a valid license, and brings experience with OCGs and related processes.

Qualifications

• Active law license in good standing in the state(s) where practicing.
• 2 years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal department; intake attorney, contract attorney, or comparable role preferred.
• Experience with Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs) processes and engagement terms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial review of OCGs and engagement terms, coordinating with General Counsel and New Business Intake attorneys to gather information and analyze consistency with existing terms.
• Identify terms that require negotiation and propose appropriate modifications.
• Coordinate feedback from Finance, Information Governance, Data Privacy and Protection, HR and other teams to gather input and execute timely follow-ups.
• Maintain an OCG playbook and tracking systems; proactively identify risk areas in engagement documents and propose solutions.
• Serve as Intapp subject matter expert, focusing on accurate tagging of legal and ethical terms.
