Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an Outside Counsel Guidelines Attorney to support risk management by reviewing engagement terms and OCGs, collaborating with internal stakeholders and the Office of General Counsel. The role focuses on identifying problematic terms, proposing solutions, and maintaining playbooks to ensure timely completion of engagements.

The attorney will serve as an subject matter expert on OCG processes, work with various internal teams to gather feedback, and uphold client relationships

Qualifications

• Active law license in good standing in the state where practicing.
• 2 years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience as an Intake Attorney, contract attorney, or comparable role preferred.
• JD degree required.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial review of OCGs and engagement terms and coordinate with Office of General Counsel and New Business Intake attorneys to gather information and complete thorough OCG analysis.
• Identify terms that require negotiation and propose modifications.
• Coordinate with Finance, Information Governance, Information and Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Protection, HR and other teams for feedback and timely follow-ups.
• Proactively identify areas of risk in engagement documents and suggest solutions.
• Maintain an OCG playbook and tracking systems; drive OCGs to completion and ensure term consistency.
