Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an Outside Counsel Guidelines Attorney to support risk management around engagement terms and OCGs. Reporting to the Executive Director, New Business Intake and Procurement, the role involves reviewing terms, negotiating changes, and coordinating with General Counsel and other stakeholders to finalize OCGs.

You will serve as an Intapp expert, maintain playbooks, track engagements, and ensure compliant processes across offices.

Qualifications

JD required and active law license in good standing in state of practice.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
Experience as Intake Attorney, contract attorney, or comparable role preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform initial review of Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs) and engagement terms, coordinating with the Office of General Counsel and New Business Intake attorneys to gather information and complete thorough analysis.
Identify terms needing negotiation and propose appropriate modifications.
Coordinate feedback from Finance, Information Governance, Information and Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Protection, Human Resources and other teams to gather input and execute timely follow-ups.
Proactively identify emerging areas of risk in engagement documents and suggest solutions.
Maintain a database for tracking progress of engagement terms negotiations to ensure timely resolutions and drive OCGs to completion.
Serve as Intapp subject matter expert focusing on accurate tagging of legal and ethical terms.
