Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an Outside Counsel Guidelines Attorney to manage engagement terms and OCGs, collaborating with the Office of General Counsel and other internal stakeholders. The role focuses on risk assessment, term negotiations, and ensuring alignment with firm policies.

The position supports hybrid work from any U.S. office, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, process improvement, and timely resolution of negotiation outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience with Intapp Terms preferred.
• Active law license in good standing in state where practicing.
• Minimum two years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial review of Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement terms and coordinates with General Counsel and New Business Intake attorneys.
• Identifies terms needing negotiation and proposes modifications.
• Gathers feedback from Finance, Information Governance, Information and Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Protection, HR and other teams to finalize terms.
• Identifies emerging risk areas in engagement documents and suggests solutions.
• Maintains a tracking database to monitor progress of term negotiations and ensures timely completion.
• Coordinates with Conflicts and New Business Intake to reflect agreed terms in internal processes.
• Maintains procedures/manuals for review and negotiation of engagement terms and creates repositories for standard responses.
• Serves as an Intapp subject matter expert for accurate tagging of legal and ethical terms.
