Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an Outside Counsel Guidelines Attorney to support the firm’s risk management by handling engagement terms and OCGs. The role partners with the Office of General Counsel and New Business Intake to review terms and coordinate negotiations across stakeholders.

It requires a JD and at least 2 years in a law firm or in-house setting, with experience in intake or contract attorney roles. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement across U.S. offices.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in good standing in the governing state.
• 2 years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal department; Intake/contract attorney or similar role preferred.
• Experience reviewing engagement terms and negotiating terms with clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial review of Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement terms and collaborates with the Office of General Counsel and New Business Intake attorneys to gather information and complete thorough OCG analysis.
• Identifies terms needing negotiation and proposes modifications.
• Coordinates with Finance, Information Governance, Information and Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Protection, Human Resources and other teams to gather feedback and finalize terms.
• Maintains a database to track negotiation progress and assists in driving OCGs to completion.
• Serves as an Intapp expert for accurate tagging of legal and ethical terms.
