Job summary

Ascension Providence in Waco, TX is hiring a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Acute Care. You will implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, educate patients and families, and assist with discharge planning. AHA/ARC-approved BLS and Texas-credentialed COTA are required within set timelines.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Implements an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Documents findings of patient progress. Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Monitors patient's response to treatment plan. Communicates patient progress and possible goal revisions to occupational therapist.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Provides discharge planning assistance and information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.
• May oversee the care provided by therapy 3-Technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (COTA) credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
