Job summary

Ascension is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Physical Therapy team at Ascension St John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. You will work PRN during day shifts, applying modalities and collaborating with the OT to help patients regain independence.

You will educate patients and caregivers, support transitions after discharge, and utilize adaptive equipment guidance to ensure safe living at home. Join a mission-driven health system focused on compassionate care.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date is required.
• COTA credentialed from the Oklahoma Board is required prior to hire date.

Responsibilities

• Execute personalized recovery plans using therapeutic modalities.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust goals with the Occupational Therapist.
• Educate patients and caregivers about the recovery process and safety.
• Provide guidance on adaptive equipment and community resources for discharge readiness.

• Champion patient progress by closely monitoring responses to treatment and collaborating with the Occupational Therapist to refine goals for optimal outcomes.
• Empower patients and caregivers through hands‑on education, ensuring they understand the recovery process and how to navigate physical challenges safely.
• Facilitate seamless transitions by providing expert guidance on adaptive equipment and community resources, ensuring patients are prepared for life after discharge.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credentialed from the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Occupational Therapist Assistant temporary letter will be accepted until license is issued.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
