Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX is seeking an Occupational Therapist to assess patient abilities, design and implement plans of care in an Acute Care setting, and monitor progress.

The role involves educating patients and families, coordinating discharge planning, and supervising aides to ensure compliant, high-quality care. Bachelor's degree required; OTR credential and BLS needed within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire or transfer date, American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• OTR credential from Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners obtained within 6 months of hire date or transfer date.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assesses patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills. Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Documents findings of patient progress. Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed. Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (OTR) credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Occupational Therapy (OT) credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Bachelor's degree required. Master's OR Doctorate degree preferred.
