Job summary

Piedmont Rockdale Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR. The role requires attention to sterile technique and readiness to assist the surgeon throughout procedures.

The candidate should have an OR training program completion, 1 year OR experience, and a background in direct patient care. BCLS certification is required; NRP is preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from Surgical Technologist training program required.
• 1 year operating room experience as Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist required.
• 3 years direct patient care in a clinical setting required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required on hire.
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies and equipment during obstetrical operations in the OR Labour and Delivery unit.
• Anticipate surgeon’s needs and maintain a sterile field at all times.
• Provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
