Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery unit. You will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for the OR and help maintain a sterile field under the watch of a registered nurse.

The role requires a Surgical Technologist training program completion, 1 year OR experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist, and 3 years of direct patient care in a clinical setting. GED or high school diploma is also needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program is required.
• 1 year of operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist is required.
• 3 years of direct patient care in a clinical setting is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during obstetrical operations in the Operating Room within the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Maintain sterile field and assist surgeon by anticipating needs during procedures.
• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
