Job summary

Piedmont Rockdale Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical procedures in the Labor and Delivery unit. You will manage instruments, supplies, and the sterile field, ensuring high-quality patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.

Ideal candidates have a Surgical Technologist credential or equivalent OR experience, a GED or high school diploma, and BCLS certification. Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) is preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from Surgical Technologist training program or 1 year OR experience or 3 years direct patient care required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required on hire; NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain the sterile field to ensure quality patient care.
• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
