Job summary

Piedmont Rockdale Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery unit. You will handle instruments and equipment, maintain a sterile field, and assist the surgeon under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The role requires completing a Surgical Technologist program, OR experience, and a background in patient care. This position is based in the Labor and Delivery area and offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program.
• 1 year operating room experience as Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist.
• 3 years direct patient care experience in a clinical setting.

• Anticipate needs of the surgeon and maintain sterile field throughout the procedure.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
