Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking an OB Surg Tech to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR. You will manage instruments and supplies, maintain a sterile field, and assist the surgeon and nursing team under RN supervision.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Surgical Technologist training or equivalent OR experience, and BCLS. Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) is preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required.
• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program required or 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during obstetrical operations in the OR.
• Maintain sterile field and anticipate surgeon needs under RN direction.
• Assist with patient care duties as directed by a registered nurse.

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.
