Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR. The role requires understanding of the procedure and anticipation of surgeon needs to ensure quality patient care, while maintaining sterility under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities include handling instruments and equipment for obstetrical procedures, assisting in the OR and ensuring sterile technique throughout the operation.

Qualifications

• Graduates must have Surgical Technologist training or equivalent.
• H.S. Diploma or GED required.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications:Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
