Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR. You will anticipate surgeon needs and maintain sterile field while assisting nursing staff.

Required: graduation from a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent OR experience, plus BCLS on hire; NRP preferred. You will work in a busy obstetric OR environment supporting patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist program or 1 year OR experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist or 3 years direct patient care in a clinical setting required.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the OR.
• Maintain sterile field and assist the surgeon under RN direction.
• Ensure quality patient care during operative procedures.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
