Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR. You will prepare instruments, maintain sterile field, and assist the surgeon under the direction of a registered nurse.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, completion of a Surgical Technologist program, and BCLS certification at hire; NRP preferred. Prior OR or patient-care experience is valued.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist program required.
• BCLS certification required upon hire.
• NRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR.

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Education

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or


• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or


• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required


• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
