Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery unit. You will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment, understand the procedure and anticipate the surgeon’s needs, and help maintain sterile field while ensuring quality patient care.

You will perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse, with required education and experience in surgical/delivery settings, including BCLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program is required.
• 1 year OR experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist is required.
• 3 years direct patient care in a clinical setting is required.
• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the OR.
• Anticipate surgeon’s needs and maintain sterile field during procedures.

He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
