Job summary

Woodlawn Health is seeking an OB RN with rotating shifts to care for mothers and newborns. The role requires Indiana RN licensure and OB experience, with fetal monitoring and newborn care emphasis. BLS, with STABLE, ACLS, and NRP training within one year, is expected.

Qualifications

  • Current licensed in Indiana as an RN
  • OB experience required
  • Experience in fetal monitoring and obstetrical/newborn care required
  • Post-Partum and Nursery experience desired for that role
  • BLS certification required or obtained prior to care
  • STABLE certification required by Indiana
  • ACLS and NRP certifications within one year of hire

Responsibilities

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current licensed in the state of Indiana as an RN – Registered Nurse.
  • You need prior OB experience to qualify for OB positions.
  • Furthermore, experience in fetal monitoring and in caring for the obstetrical and newborn patient is required.
  • Specifically for a position as a Post-Partum and Nursery nurse, experience in caring for the obstetrical and newborn patient is desired.
  • Must possess Basic Life Support certification or obtain prior to providing direct patient care. Maintains BLS certification per hospital policy.
  • Additionally, sugar and safe care, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, Emotional support (S.T.A.B.L.E.) certification is required by the State of Indiana.
  • You must obtain your Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications within one year of hire.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Assess assigned patients for overall conditions and needs, coordinates and gives care appropriately. Including treatments, all medications, initiates and maintains IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, etc.
  • Initiates and modifies care plans and goals, as well as initiates discharge planning.
  • Prescribes appropriate nursing actions in order to meet the goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient.
  • Assist physicians as needed, transcribe and then implement physician’s orders appropriately and accurately.
  • Report to the physician or appropriate person any pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients and record these accurately in the medical record.
  • Coordinate patient care with other team members and assigns duties in accordance with patient’s needs and the personnel’s capabilities and qualifications.
  • Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patient by other nursing team members.
  • Performs assessments, interprets data, and delivers all nursing care with an age-appropriate focus.
  • Facilitates an efficient and accurate admission and disposition process. Such as assisting with initial interview collection (includes items such as patient history, VS, height, weight, allergies, screening information), transfer of patients both within the hospital and to other facilities, and discharges.
  • Communicates professionally, consistently, and effectively with all team members to ensure coordination and prioritization of patient care duties and responsibilities.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a self-directed, flexible, agile team approach.
