Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is hiring an OB Care Technician 1 to join our obstetrics team on the night shift. You will assist with maternal and newborn care under RN supervision, providing essential patient support and clerical coverage in a high‑emotion maternity setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, current BLS/CPR, and an interest in healthcare with employer‑provided training. Prior obstetrics experience is preferred, with a focus on reliability and compassionate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Certified Nurse Aide (CENA) certification, or active enrollment in a health science program with nursing fundamentals course or clinical rotation.
• Equivalent healthcare experience (MA, Paramedic, EMT, Nurse Tech, LPN) considered.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider is required.
• Experience in obstetrics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ambulation and hygiene of patients.
• Perform infant baths and diaper changes.
• Obtain maternal and infant weights, vitals and document.
• Assist with nursing tasks, equipment setup and supplies.
• Clerical duties: answer phones, update charts, and coordinate admissions/discharges.
