Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a skilled engineer to own the Siemens NX CAM environment for the NC programming team. The role focuses on maintaining assets that automate manufacturing, including post processors, templates, and method libraries, with rigorous DEV testing before production release.

The position requires senior-level expertise in NX CAM, post processing, and digital twin simulation, plus strong scripting and IT integration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 9 years of exempt experience or Master’s Degree with 7 years of exempt experience.
• Equivalent IT-related credentials can substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.
• NNS Apprentice School or NNPS graduates may qualify as alternatives.
• High school/GED with combinations of experience may substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Own NX CAM environment: evaluate and implement changes to templates, libraries, tooling databases, and environment variables.
• Provide expert-level toolpath and post troubleshooting: interpret NC programmer intent, reproduce issues, and deliver fixes.
• Develop and maintain post processors for Siemens, Fanuc, and Heidenhain; implement/test machine options, probing/subroutines, and standards.
• Develop and maintain the Siemens Digital Twin for Machine Simulation within Siemens NX.
• Create/maintain CAM templates and programming standards enabling front-line programmers.
