Job summary

Episcopal Children's Services, Inc. seeks a Substitute Teacher to provide nurturing, developmentally appropriate care when a regular classroom teacher is absent. You will support language, social, and emotional development while following ECS policies and safety procedures.

You will collaborate with families, adapt to daily activities, and help maintain child portfolios and center operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or GED; DCF 45-hour training completed or in progress.
• Experience in a child care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of child growth and development and developmentally appropriate practices.

Responsibilities

• Become Primary Caregiver/Teacher when regular teacher is absent.
• Familiarize self with day’s planned activities.
• Assist in developmentally appropriate activities for each child.
• Provide a warm, nurturing environment with positive guidance.
• Develop nurturing relationships to support social and emotional development.
• Maintain compliance with standards (NAEYC, APPLE, ECS, DCF, EHS) and safety procedures.
• Follow medical, dental, and medication handling policies; ensure safe practices.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene; assist in center upkeep.
• Communicate effectively with families and encourage parent involvement.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; collaborate with staff to serve children and families.
• Maintain portfolios during extended staff absences and follow directions as assigned.
