Job summary

Episcopal Children’s Services, Inc. is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide a warm, safe, and nurturing environment for children from birth to 5 years. You will support the regular classroom team, implement planned activities, and maintain records and portfolios as needed.

You will collaborate with staff and families, participate in trainings, and help maintain safety and hygiene in the classroom while following ECS policies and the center's guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child growth and development and developmentally appropriate practices for birth to 5 years.
• High school diploma or GED required; DCF 45-hour training and experience in child care preferred.
• Must meet background check and safety requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively, maintain records, and follow curriculum plans.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Primary Caregiver/Teacher in the absence of regular staff.
• Familiarize self with daily activities and assist with developmentally appropriate activities.
• Provide a nurturing environment and uphold ECS discipline policy.
• Maintain relationships with families and encourage parent involvement.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and medication handling procedures.
• Communicate with staff and participate in meetings and trainings.
