Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to join the Division of Nursing leadership. You will support the Director of Nursing, oversee unit-based nursing staff, and ensure holistic, patient-centered care across transitions of care.

You will lead performance management, staffing, budgeting, and quality initiatives, advancing safety and evidence-based practice while aligning with MedStar's Mission, SPIRIT values, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health related field from a nationally accredited program preferred.
• 1–2 years of progressive nursing care experience required; leadership experience preferred.
• RN license in Maryland required; CPR certification within 90 days.
• C-EFM certification may be required for Perinatal units within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Develops unit goals, policies, procedures; ensures compliance with policies and standards.
• Collaborates across disciplines to ensure efficient, quality patient care and throughput.
• Conducts performance reviews and manages staff development.
• Maintains unit budget and ensures staffing appropriate to patient care needs.
• Supports patient safety initiatives and high reliability standards.
