Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to join the Division of Nursing leadership. This role oversees nursing and patient care delivery for a unit, guiding professional and support staff to provide holistic, evidence-based care.

You will collaborate with the Director of Nursing, manage staffing and performance, support regulatory compliance, and lead quality and safety initiatives across shifts to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or health-related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of progressive nursing care experience required; leadership/management experience preferred.
• RN licensure required in the applicable state.

Responsibilities

• Develop unit/department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures and ensure policy compliance.
• Develop and maintain cross-disciplinary relationships to ensure quality patient care and throughput.
• Set performance expectations, evaluate staff, and conduct performance reviews.
• Complete annual performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback for development.
• Coordinate operations with nursing leadership for staffing and clinical coordination.
• Contribute to budget development and management and ensure appropriate resources.
• Promote patient safety initiatives and high reliability standards across shifts.
• Collaborate with nursing leaders to ensure staff competencies and ongoing education.
