Job summary

MedStar Health seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our Division of Nursing leadership team. The role oversees nursing and patient care delivery for a unit, aligns with evidence-based practice, and drives Quality and safety initiatives across the department.

Key responsibilities include performance management, budget oversight, staff development, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care transitions and outcomes within a 24/7 operational context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health related field from a nationally accredited program preferred.
• 1-2 years 2 years of progressive nursing care experience required.
• Leadership and management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops unit/department goals, objectives, policies and procedures and ensures compliance with hospital/entity policies.
• Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance and conducts performance management planning.
• Maintains unit/department budget and ensures staffing adequacy and resource availability.
• Leads safety huddles and supports quality, patient safety initiatives and regulatory compliance.
• Assists with hiring, evaluation, promotion and development of staff and coordinates staff orientation.
