Job summary

MedStar Health's Washington Hospital Center in Maryland seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing to lead a unit, partner with the Director of Nursing, and ensure safe, patient-centered care 24/7. This role directs nursing and support staff, drives quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, and collaborates across disciplines to optimize patient flow and outcomes.

Candidates bring RN licensure, leadership experience, and strong communication; a master's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or health-related field preferred.
• RN license in Maryland required; CPR certification within 90 days.
• C-EFM certification preferred for Perinatal nurses (labor/delivery, antepartum).

Responsibilities

• Develop unit/department goals and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Build cross-disciplinary relationships to ensure efficient, quality patient care and throughput.
• Perform annual performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback for staff development.
• Maintain staffing and oversee coaching, counseling, and professional growth of associates.
