Job summary

Alden Gardens of Waterford seeks an experienced Nursing Director to plan, organize, direct and delegate the overall operation of the Nursing Department in alignment with applicable standards and facility policies. The objective is to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

The role emphasizes maintaining quality resident care, staff development, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations to meet residents’ needs with compassion and integrity.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license to practice in IL and/or WI.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing service administration experience.
• CPR certificate current or within two weeks of employment.
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to deal tactfully with customers, family, visitors, personnel, government agencies, and the public.
• Leadership and supervisory ability; work harmoniously with personnel.
• Personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Nursing Department.
• Assure all Nursing procedures and protocols follow established policies; review annually and recommend revisions to the Administrator.
• Directly supervise and instruct staff to promote job knowledge.
• Identify problems, develop and implement solutions with Administration.
• Develop and implement a nursing/rehab/restorative philosophy for quality care.
• Ensure adequate staff on all shifts; audit charts and EHR for daily documentation.
• Audit lab and x-ray reports and ensure tests are filed.
• Attend care plan conferences and participate in resident care plan development.
• Recruit, interview and select staff with Administrator approval.
• Schedule department work hours and assignments to meet resident needs.
• Monitor medication passes and treatments as ordered.
• Ensure licenses are valid and current for nursing personnel.
• Attend Department Head, Infection Control, and Quality Assurance meetings.
