Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Hospital, is seeking a Nursing Care Assistant I/Health Unit Coordinator for the 4700 Surgical Oncology unit in Raleigh, NC. The role supports pre- and post-operative care and collaborates with RN/LPN staff to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, data collection for medical records, and assist with procedures. Excellent teamwork and adherence to safety protocols are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient in taking and recording vital signs and reporting changes.
• Comfort with using EMR systems to document patient data.
• Experience providing non-professional bedside patient care under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of findings.
• Administer routine care including feeding, bathing and mobility assistance.
• Assist with examinations by positioning patients and dressing changes.
• Record I&O, monitor vital signs, and prepare specimens for testing.
• Support patient transport, admission, discharge and transfers.
• Maintain cleanliness and stocking of patient areas and supplies.
• Participate in staff development and training activities.
