Job summary

New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Nursing Float Pool on the Night shift. You will float to multiple units and assist with patient care, monitor vitals, meals, and safe transport.

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you’ll provide compassionate, patient-focused care, maintain a clean, safe environment, and support teamwork across departments. On-site presence is required, with weekends on rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Nurse Assistant certification or enrollment in BSN with clinical rotation.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Float to multiple hospital units such as Med-Surg, Critical Care, Psychiatry, Emergency Dept as needed.
• Monitor vitals, record temperatures, pulses, respiration and blood pressure.
• Assist with meals, transportation and patient comfort under RN supervision.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and collaborate with the care team.

Provide compassionate patient focus and perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse. Improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment. Measure and record temperatures, pulses, respiration and blood pressure. Demonstrate what it means to be part of a team and raise the bar for patient care.

• Float to all units-in the hospital such as Med-Surg-Critical Care-Psychiatry-Emergency Department or where needed.

This a full-time night position (11:45PM-7:45AM) New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, 3 weekends a month and rotating holidays required.

Preferred Criteria

• Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience as a nurse's aide in a hospital

Required Criteria

• High school diploma or GED
• Certification from an approved, accredited Nurse Assistant training program or current
• Enrollment in a BSN program & completion of at least 1 clinical rotation
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Basic computer skill
