Job summary

ECU Health Medical Center in North Carolina is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant II to perform direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The NAII may also serve in an observer role monitoring patients on a unit for a designated time.

Requires active NAI and NAII listings in NC, and current HeartSaver (or higher) certification. This part-time night shift role includes 2–12 hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotation, and opportunities to contribute to quality

Qualifications

• High School or GED preferred or higher.
• Active NAI listing with NC DHHS is required.
• Active NAII listing with NC Board of Nursing is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training must be completed within 90 days of hire (not required for Ambulatory positions).

Responsibilities

• Participates in quality improvement activities and data collection.
• Attends staff development programs and participates in orientation of new staff and students.
• Follows hospital and unit policies; maintains licensure.
• Demonstrates teamwork and effective communication within the care team.
• Participates in unit and hospital goal setting; supports cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Provides direct patient care under supervision of a licensed nurse and performs delegated tasks per NC rules.
• May perform EKGs, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and assist in admission, transport, and discharge.
• Monitors patients and reports any escalation in risk; documents in the medical record.
