Job summary

ECU Health Medical Center in North Carolina is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant II to perform patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role participates in quality improvement and educational activities, while maintaining licensure and adhering to hospital policies.

Candidates must hold active NA I/II listings in NC, HeartSaver certification, and complete required de-escalation training within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is preferred - or higher.
• Active NAI listing with NC Department of Health & Human Services is required.
• Active NAII listing with North Carolina Board of Nursing is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training (Non-violent crisis intervention or other de-escalation program) must be completed within 90 days of employment unless in Ambulatory positions.

Responsibilities

• Participates in quality improvement activities and data collection.
• Attends staff development programs and participates in orientation of new staff.
• Follows hospital policies and maintains licensure as NA I/II.
• Works in a team, communicates effectively, and uses chain of command appropriately.
• Participates in unit goal setting and cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Under supervision of a licensed nurse, assists with direct patient care and delegated tasks.
• With education, may perform other duties such as EKGs, Phlebotomy, venipuncture, and admissions/discharges.
• Monitors patients for escalating behaviors and provides accurate handoffs and documentation.
