Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist is hiring a Nursing Assistant for full-time float pool covering evenings and nights in Brooklyn, NY. You will support patient care under the supervision of registered nurses, assist with meals, transport, and basic monitoring, and help keep units safe and comfortable.

Candidates need a high school diploma or GED, a nurse assistant certification, BLS, enrollment in a BSN with clinical rotation, and solid communication and computer skills.

Key Responsibilities

Provide compassionate patient focus and perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse. Improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment. Measure and record temperatures, pulses, respiration and blood pressure. Demonstrate what it means to be part of a team and raise the bar for patient care.

Preferred Criteria

• Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience as a nurse's aide in a hospital

Required Criteria

• High school diploma or GED
• Certification from an approved, accredited Nurse Assistant training program or current
• Enrollment in a BSN program & completion of at least 1 clinical rotation
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Basic computer skills

Shift Availability

• Evening Shift - 3:30PM - 12:00AM
• Night Shift - 11:45PM - 7:45AM
• Float to all units in the hospital such as Med-Surg, Critical Care, Psychiatry, Emergency Department or where needed.

Hours

Full-time positions available at NYP/Brooklyn Methodist located in Brooklyn, NY. Three weekend days required for the first 2 years of employment (every Saturday & Sunday).

Working Conditions

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
