Job summary

Management Performance Associates is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for a premier Connecticut skilled nursing facility. The ADON will report to the Director of Nursing and help lead day-to-day clinical and administrative operations, ensuring residents achieve their highest practicable well‑being.

Responsibilities include supervising charge nurses, coordinating staffing, supporting QAPI initiatives, and ensuring compliant care delivery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unencumbered RN license in the State of Connecticut; CPR certification.
• Minimum of two (2) years of nursing supervisory/leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, or related healthcare setting.
• Minimum of six (6) months of restorative nursing experience.
• In-depth knowledge of long-term care regulations, CMS Requirements of Participation, medical practices, and state health codes.
• Strong independent clinical judgment, documentation skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day operations of the nursing department in compliance with federal, state, and local standards.
• Provide direct leadership and administrative oversight to Charge Nurses and Nurse Supervisors, providing training in supervisory principles and delegating operational authority as appropriate.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds to monitor nursing care delivery, medication passes, treatment protocols, and infection prevention standards.
• Participate in resident clinical assessments and lead the development of written, person-centered care plans.
• Assist in managing departmental staffing needs, developing daily work assignments, scheduling staff hours, and posting staffing information.
• Support recruitment, orientation, licensure verification, and performance evaluations of nursing personnel.
• Coordinate care continuity with attending physicians, medical consultants, government agencies, and interdisciplinary service teams.
• Lead and support the facility's QAPI program, participate in state/federal surveys, and assist in plans of correction.
• Oversee medication administration and treatment schedules, reporting any medication errors to the Director of Nursing.
• Assist with departmental budget planning and equipment/resource allocations.
• Partner with Staff Development Coordinator to plan and conduct staff in-service training and ensure adherence to policies and safety standards.
