Job summary

The Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, under the Dept Behavioral Health/Develop, seeks a Nurse Shift Supervisor (3rd shift) to manage patient care for a census up to 72 and coordinate 65–95 staff during evening/night hours.

The role requires Virginia RN licensure, psychiatric nursing leadership, and strong skills in staff scheduling, EHR use, and emergency response. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for new state service hires.

Qualifications

• Licensed, or license eligible, and in good standing as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Experience in nursing management or shift administration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate medical and health services during the shift.
• Oversee staffing, admissions/discharges, and patient transport on assigned shift.
• Respond to emergency codes and ensure nursing care meets regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to maintain safe, efficient operations.
