Job summary

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services seeks a 2nd Shift Nurse Shift Supervisor for Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute. The NSS oversees patient care for a 24/7 psychiatric hospital, plans and coordinates nursing services, and directs a large team on the 3:00–11:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Licensed, or license eligible, and in good standing as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.
• A valid driver's license is required and must remain valid throughout employment.
• Previous nursing management and/or Shift Administrator experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate medical and health services in a psychiatric hospital.
• Oversee admissions and discharge processes on assigned shift.
• Coordinate staffing and scheduling for the shift and supervise nursing staff.
• Respond to emergency codes and manage nursing operations 24/7.
