Job summary
Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse II for night shifts. You will provide advanced psychiatric nursing care and participate in safety procedures, including seclusion/restraints when necessary.
The role offers a $25,000 bonus package including a $15,000 sign-on and a $10,000 retention bonus under certain terms, plus competitive shift differentials and robust state benefits. Orientation is 4 weeks; evenings/weekends included.
Qualifications
- Licensed RN in Virginia or eligible for licensure; multi-state compact acceptable.
- Experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing.
- Valid driver's license; driving record acceptable.
- Knowledge of nursing theory and practice in psychiatric settings.
- Familiar with psychosocial rehab concepts and recovery models.
- Completion of BLS, Therapeutic Options and required training.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
- Experience with seclusion/restraints safety and risk factors.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced nursing care to psychiatric patients per policy and standards.
- Implement seclusion/restraint procedures safely when required.
- Collaborate with staff on care plans and patient safety.
- Work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 pm–7:30 am) on a Pitman schedule.
- Potential overtime with weekend rotations.
