Job summary

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is seeking a Registered Nurse I for night shifts at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Danville, VA. Qualifications

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program.
• Current and in good standing Registered Nurse license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or license eligible; multi-state compact endorsement is accepted.
• Valid driver’s license is required and must remain active throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s physical and mental condition and collaborate with patient and other team members to identify needs in order to design individualized person centered plans of care with the aim of increasing psychosocial and recovery skills for individuals with mental illnesses and to those with dual disorders.
• Safely implement the use of Seclusion/Restraints and knowledge of risks involved with patients.
• Work on night shift (7:00 pm - 7:30 am) on a non-rotating Pitman schedule, with potential overtime and weekend rotations.
• Participate in orientation and training to ensure quality patient care and safety.
