Job summary

Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute is seeking an entry-level Registered Nurse I for night shifts (7:00 pm–7:30 am) in Danville, VA. The role emphasizes patient assessment, care planning, and teamwork to support recovery in individuals with mental illness.

A $15,000 sign-on bonus, up to $10,000 retention bonus, and a $5.50–$7.00 per hour shift differential are available. New RN grads or those with minimal RN experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program.
• Current Virginia RN license or license eligible; multi-state compact accepted.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of psychiatric nursing and psychosocial rehabilitation/recovery models.
• Ability to delegate, supervise, and evaluate nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical and mental status and design individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with patients and team to improve psychosocial recovery.
• Safely implement seclusion/restraint procedures as required.
• Provide 12-hour night shift care on a floating pool with weekend rotation.
• Complete onboarding orientation and mandatory training.
