Job summary

Aperion Care in Elgin, IL is seeking an experienced Nursing Supervisor to oversee professional nursing practice across units. You will coordinate care, allocate staff per shift, and ensure quality nursing services for acutely and chronically ill residents.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current unencumbered state licensure.
• Supervisory experience in a team leader role.
• Work experience as a professional nurse.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Determines optimal allocation of staff per shift and unit.
• Coordinates care of patients on assigned shifts and communicates concerns.
• Reviews 24 Hour Reports and monitors changes in condition.
• Serves as administrative authority for smooth unit operation and notifies management of urgent concerns.
• Receives grievances and refers information to appropriate manager.
• Assists nurses with risk assessments and investigations of injury.
• Notifies nursing leadership of identified learning needs.
• Manages call-offs, updates schedules, and covers vacancies.
• Ensures vacancies are filled in advance with Staffing Coordinator.
• Performs rounds to monitor acutely ill patients.
• Supervises staff and guides workflow; ensures survey compliance.
• Receives shift reports and completes required documentation.
• Assists with acuity assessments of residents in acute change.
• Provides clinical expertise in medical and psychiatric emergencies.
• Responds to code blues and medical emergencies; assists staff.
• Audits charts and supports documentation (MDS, PPS, care planning).
• Notifies MD/Family Representatives when warranted.
• Obtains supplies and restocks crash cart.
• Directs staff response to emergencies and participates in drills.
• Meets with Nursing leadership and participates in policy development.
• Attends Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement meetings.
