Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking an Assistant Patient Services Manager (APSM) to lead nursing operations, ensure safe patient flow, and drive service excellence across units. The role emphasizes transformational leadership, 24/7 accountability, and collaboration with nursing teams to improve outcomes and efficiency.

The ideal candidate holds a nursing degree (BSN required, MSN preferred), CT RN licensure, and 2+ years of clinical nursing plus 1 year of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required; Master's preferred (One degree must be in nursing).
• Two years of clinical nurse experience and a minimum of 1 year leadership/supervisory experience (this may include committees, charge role, project management or other experiences that demonstrate leadership qualities).
• Current CT state RN licensure and/or eligibility for CT state RN licensure required. Specialty certification preferred or willing to obtain within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to direct a diverse work force in a 24 hour per day operational environment; passion for leading others with innovation and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Patient Flow: Serve as clinical leader in collaboration with the charge nurse, bed management, medical teams, and other healthcare staff to ensure safe patient flow in all care settings.
• Staffing and Effectiveness: Ensure safe staffing levels and clinical competence to provide excellent nursing care.
• Financial Performance: Contribute to unit strategies to support the financial health of the organization and understand financial forecasts.
• Quality and Safety: Model excellence in clinical practice and promote a culture of safe, high quality care.
• Service Excellence: Deliver PFCC with focus on Participation, Dignity and Respect, Information Sharing, and Collaboration.
