Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Extern to support registered nurses in delivering safe, patient-centered care in an acute setting. You will assist with ADLs, transport, admissions, discharges, and basic clinical tasks under supervision.

Requirements include enrollment in an accredited nursing program, a minimum 2.5 GPA, and completion of foundational nursing coursework. This is a part-time, on-site role with emphasis on hands-on learning and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active enrollment in an accredited nursing program and in good standing.
• Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Completion of foundational nursing coursework is required before supervised practice.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living under RN supervision.
• Assists with mobility and transfers per RN direction.
• Records vital signs and completes basic measurements.
• Supports nutrition and hydration in line with diet orders.
• Maintains clean, safe patient environment and reports changes to RN.
• Documents and communicates patient updates to the RN promptly.
