Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a full-time, day-shift position at RWJUH Somerset in Somerville, NJ. This role involves hot lab duties, calibrations, patient prep, and image acquisition under departmental protocols.

Responsibilities include quality QC, patient safety, and assisting physicians with imaging procedures. NJ licensure and ARRT/NMTCB certification required; sign-on bonus for external applicants.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• BLS certification required.
• Must possess a current NJ State license, ARRT and/or NMTCB.

Responsibilities

• Performs all hot lab related functions such as receiving, using and discarding of radiopharmaceuticals following vendor, departmental and DEP rules.
• Calibrates the dose calibrator and performs QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols and notifies the lead tech of any malfunctions promptly.
• Identifies the patients both IP and OP per hospital SOP before starting any procedure.
• Explains the procedure to the patient clearly including wait times and performs the procedure assuring maximum comfort to the patient.
• Obtains best possible images by using prescribed technical parameters and techniques.
• Assures that all tests are performed properly and test results are valid and accurate prior to the release of the patient.
• Assists the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.
• Maintains the department in a neat and clean condition.
• Overtime may be required; performs other duties as needed.
