Job Title: Federal Director of Business Development - Energy&Environment

Location: Remote (U.S.-based, with travel as needed)

Compensation: $160,000 – $220,000 base + 35% performance-based bonus

Clearance Requirement: None required

Position Summary:

A leading federal contractor is seeking a Director of Business Development to drive strategic growth across key accounts within the Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DoD). This role is focused on expanding the organization’s presence in the Nuclear Solutions, Energy & Environment, and Information Technology sectors.

This is a high-impact, senior-level role ideal for a business development professional with a strong track record in federal contracting, deep domain expertise, and the ability to shape market strategies, develop robust opportunity pipelines, and drive sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full life cycle of business development efforts targeting DOE and DoD clients.
  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans, including market assessments, opportunity identification, competitive analysis, and capture strategies.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with company capabilities and long-term objectives.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and partners within DOE and DoD agencies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with capture, proposal, technical, and executive teams to ensure alignment and readiness for new opportunities.
  • Lead go-to-market efforts in Nuclear Solutions, Energy & Environmental programs, and Federal IT solutions.
  • Provide regular briefings to executive leadership on pipeline status, win probability, market trends, and strategic recommendations.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client engagements as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in federal business development, with a strong emphasis on DOE and DoD sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, developing, and winning opportunities in Nuclear, Energy, Environmental, and IT mission areas.
  • Proven expertise in shaping markets, developing roadmaps, and building pipelines that align with federal agency priorities and funding profiles.
  • Strong understanding of the federal procurement process and government contracting lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Must be able to travel as needed to support client engagement and strategic initiatives.

Additional Information:

  • This position is remote within the U.S., with travel required for client meetings, conferences, and internal planning sessions.
  • U.S. Citizenship preferred due to potential future contract requirements.
  • This position does not require a security clearance.
