Essenti Talent is seeking an Audit Manager for the Not-for-Profit Practice in the Greater Chicagoland area. You will lead nonprofit audit engagements, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff while partnering with senior leadership on strategy and engagement execution.

The role emphasizes ownership of engagements, adherence to GAAP/GAAS, and delivering high-quality financial reporting for educational institutions, foundations, and social service organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; master's degree a plus.
• 5–7+ years of audit experience within a public accounting firm.
• Demonstrated experience managing audit engagements from planning through completion.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience supervising, reviewing, and developing audit staff.
• Excellent client relationship management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and priorities.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Previous audit experience with nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations.
• Familiarity with nonprofit financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Experience preparing or reviewing IRS Form 990.
• Knowledge of nonprofit tax matters and related regulatory requirements.

Responsabilités

• Audit Engagement Management across nonprofit clients, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
• Oversee engagement budgets, staffing plans, and timelines.
• Review statements, footnotes, and audit workpapers for quality.
• Identify and resolve complex accounting issues through research.
• Serve as primary contact for nonprofit clients and communicate progress to leadership.
• Lead and mentor audit associates and review staff workpapers.
