Accounting Search is representing a highly respected CPA firm in the Greater Chicagoland area seeking an Audit Manager specializing in Not-for-Profit organizations. The role offers ownership of engagements, staff mentoring, and opportunities for advancement, including a potential path to Partner, with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

The incumbent will manage nonprofit audit engagements, maintain client relationships, and lead teams through planning, fieldwork, and reporting

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; master's degree a plus.
5–7+ years of audit experience in a public accounting firm.
Demonstrated experience managing audits from planning through completion.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and financial statement prep.
Experience supervising, reviewing, and developing audit staff.
Excellent client relationship management, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage audit engagements for nonprofit clients, including schools, foundations, and healthcare orgs.
Oversee all phases of audits: planning, fieldwork, reporting, and final deliverables.
Develop audit strategies, budgets, staffing plans, and timelines.
Review financial statements, footnotes, workpapers, and management letters.
Ensure engagements meet professional standards and deadlines.
Identify and resolve complex accounting issues through research and consultation.
