CareerNerds, LLC is seeking an experienced Audit Manager specializing in Not-for-Profit organizations to join its public accounting practice in the Greater Chicagoland Area. The role emphasizes ownership of client engagements, leadership of audit teams, and development of enduring client relationships with nonprofit organizations.

The ideal candidate has 5–7+ years of public accounting audit experience, strong GAAP/GAAS knowledge, and a CPA designation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; master's degree a plus.
• 5–7+ years of audit experience in a public accounting firm.
• Experience managing audit engagements end-to-end.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
• Experience supervising audit staff.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Experience with nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations preferred.

Responsabilités

• Lead and manage audit engagements for nonprofit clients, including planning, fieldwork, financial reporting, and final deliverables.
• Develop audit strategies, engagement budgets, staffing plans, and timelines.
• Review financial statements, footnotes, and audit workpapers.
• Ensure engagements adhere to professional standards and are completed efficiently.
• Identify and resolve complex accounting issues through research.
• Serve as primary contact for nonprofit audit clients and manage client relationships.
• Coordinate staffing, budgets, and resource allocation; mentor staff.
• Apply nonprofit accounting principles and relevant reporting requirements; review Form 990 as needed.
• Maintain awareness of evolving nonprofit regulations and industry developments.
